| Anton was born in Junin, Peru in 1947. She graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes with one of the highest awards in the specialty painting and drawing fields. She worked as a teacher/professor of art before fully devoting her time to the production of her own masterpieces. Since 1983 the artist has participated in several exhibitions in Lima, Peru, as well as in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is also an accomplished musician. Anton's paintings evoke the Classical relief sculptures of ancient Greece and Rome both in style and in content. She simultaneously embraces this aesthetic of Antiquity while incorporating more modern, contemporary elements into her compositions. As a result, these paintings exhibit such timeless qualities of permanence and fortitude. Dynamic and visually striking, the work of Anton would be a lovely addition to any space. The combination of modernity and antiquity establishes a tense, yet fulfilling, dichotomy within the piece itself. |
