| Fredy Hurtado was born in Peru in 1958 and currently resides in the country of his birth. He graduated from The National Art School of Bellas Artes in Lima Peru, in 1985 and for a time studied to be an art teacher at the same school. He has done several exhibitions around the country and is becoming a favourite in the United States and Canada. Outgoing and effusive, Hurtado loves bright colors and seeks to incorporate them into his work as much as possible. "I started painting the incredible scenery of my country and then decided that I could also capture the beauty of the architecture", says Hurtado. "There is so much history in Peru, reflected in the buildings and our reverence for the past. I also paint landscapes from my imagination, beautiful lakes and streams with lush foliage, created in my mind. My most recent passion is to paint still lifes of fruit and flowers in a simple manner, with more emphasis on softer colors. My greatest challenge has been to show the reflection of light off water, and how something appears when seen through a glass."
