| In his early 30's, David Aguilar has become one of Peru's most prolific painters of still lifes and portraits. Born and raised in Lima, he decided that the city offered the best environment to nurture his artistic talents and remains there today. David has had no formal art training, preferring to develop his abilities on his own, and fortunately, his efforts have resulted in the ability to support himself solely with his painting. He enjoys living close to the sea and often paints in the open air, arranging the objects for his work to receive the best sunlight and shadowing. In his portraits, he seeks to capture the essence of the subject, making certain that the light from their soul shines through their eyes, and he especially enjoys painting portraits of children. |
