Raser
Born October 10, 1954, Pierre Rasera (Raser), from the Haute Savoie, is highly skilled in Flemish chiaroscuro and glaze art, which gives still lifes such distinctive sensitivity. He is today one of the young masters of this very specialized art, a form dating from the 1700's. His compositions are inspired by very real objects. His painting is more natural than nature. Ever looking for new, unusual objects, Raser has the ability to make us experience all of the inner charm of the painting by the precision of the detail and the delicacy of his chiaroscuros. Far from being a random juxtaposition of disparate objects, each painting astonishes by its perfect balance and the unique intimacy of its atmosphere. Now technically mature, he is able to add this personal touch that makes him so sought after by the most demanding collectors. His bluish or ochre pink backgrounds, the ring, the nail or the fly on the wall, the signature on the small piece of parchment nailed to the table, the carpets and drapes--so many clues that make a Raser instantly recognizable today. "The meaning of objects must not take precedence over the way that they appear to us for a real poetry to be born. Trompe l'oeil is not the objective. The painting must become an aesthetic object. The composition must be marked by a high degree of stability and real balance and should produce a strong poetic and emotional feeling." --Raser
